I am in love with this style, half chic rock-half rebelle: leather jacket, I <3 LA t. shirt, the scarf (on appelle ça un chèche nous, mais impossible de trouver une traduction anglaise), the skinny jeans, and the perfect yellow Converse for the rebelle touch!
Let’s talk about this huge brand created in 1908 (ohlalala mais je croyais que c’était dans les années 60 moi!) by Mills Converse in Massachusetts and which was first called « Converse Rubber Shoes Company » (pour leur semelle en caoutchouc). In the 1920s, the famous basketball player Chuck Taylor is the ambassador of the brand while wearing the shoes during games and it is in 1923 that he added his signature to the patch.. For the anecdote, Converse created some boots for the US Army Air Corps during WW2 and received honors from the army and Navy. In the 50s, Hollywood actors started to wear them while it is a symbol of rebellion for the youngs. In the 60s, Converse is so popular, thanks to the sport specialisation they adopted. Still a symbol for young rebelles in the 80s, then the brand was faced to competitors in the 90s. In 2001, it is going bankrupt.and 2 years later, in 2003, Converse was bought by NIKE for the amount of $305 million.
More than one century after the creation of the brand, we all have a pair (I have 5 pairs -> FAN. And my favorite design is the american flag
).
